Inspirate presents AN INDIAN SUMMER over three days at The Classroom Leicester
Lucky Tonight with Afreena Islam-Wright
In the 90’s sitcom Goodness Gracious Me, one of Nina Wadia’s many characters can make everything at home ‘with a small’ what?
For questions like this and more, join quizmaster extraordinaire (and former contestant of The Chase!) Afreena, who will put you through your paces to help her tell her story.
From the streets of Old Trafford to the coast of Chittagong, Afreena shares what it really means to be ‘British’ and ‘Bangladeshi’, whilst not really fitting into either of them…
Lucky Tonight! is an interactive and unique ‘pub quiz meets theatre show’, written and performed by Afreena Islam-Wright.
P.S. the answer is aubergine.
Shakti Unleashed - An Evening of Drag & Cabaret
Produced by Queer Croydon, who previously worked alongside Inspirate to create ground breaking projects like South Asian Queer Pride, we’re thrilled to return for a second year running with an evening of queer excellence at the Real Ale Classroom for AIS 2025.
This vibrant showcase celebrates queer South Asian artistry across drag, burlesque, dance, and cabaret. Hosted by the dazzling Mahatma Khandi, expect a kaleidoscope of bold storytelling, unapologetic identities, and untold stories brought to glorious life.
Inspired by the festival theme of “The Stories We Bring, The Stories We Shape,” Shakti Unleashed promises a riot of colour, passion, and pure queer power that you won’t want to miss.
An Evening With Amit Chadda
Blending acoustic guitar and piano with stirring, soulful vocals, Amit’s music has been described as folk-soul – a sound that feels both deeply personal and universally resonant. In this special performance, Amit invites you on a musical journey through themes of spirituality, identity, love, loss, and hope.
Drawing inspiration from nature’s quiet wisdom, ancient spiritual teachings, and his own path of self-discovery as a queer British Indian, Amit weaves songs and stories into a tapestry of lyrical and heartfelt reflection.
Expect rich melodies, intimate storytelling, and a space to pause, reflect, and reconnect – a night for those who find meaning in words, music, and the shared experience of what it means to be human.
